Task 2

Synopsis

On the way back from a night out Ash is knocked unconscious when picking up a penny (a clever ploy by the kidnapper). He then wakes up to find he’s been kidnapped. The girl is trying to force him to go on a date with her as she’s never been on one. If he doesn’t she’ll cut off his head. Not got many options has he?

Middle: The two go on the date and it all seems to be going well. Until the guy finds out a police officer is in the restaurant. He decides to keep the date going and wait for the chance to contact the police officer. The girl seems to start caring about him. She eventually leaves the table and goes to the bathroom. He tells the police officer what’s happening.

Ending to the movie: The girl is arrested and it seems for a second like the guys is sad about this. He’s not, says she deserves it and leaves.   

Characters:

Ash – Ash is an average guy. He just happens to be walking home from a night out when he falls for the penny trick. He’s not particularly intelligent and he’s not a very nice guy but he doesn’t really deserve to be put through this.

Kate – The kidnapper. She’s probably not that bad of a person but after getting badgered for so long about getting a boyfriend or just going on,  a date she snaps and decides to kidnap someone and for them to go on a date with her.

Ext – Alleyway

A guy, Ash, wanders down the street alone. He is a little tipsy. He stops when he sees a penny on the ground and bends down to pick it up.  Someone hits him on the back of the head with a bat. He falls face first onto the penny.

Int - ???

 The room is Dark and Ash is duct taped to a chair. He comes too slowly. We see from his POV someone messing around with what appears to be a knife.

Ash: Who…where am I? What’s going on?

The girl looks towards him.  This is Kate

Kate: Oh hi. Me and you are gonna go on a date.

Ash: …Not the weirdest thing I’ve woken up too.

 Card:

Ash: Just one date?

Kate: Yep. I wanna get this over with.

Ash: Three questions.

Kate: Shoot.

Ash: one. Why not get someone who’s rich? Two. Why didn’t you get someone famous and three why not someone better looking?

Kate: You were the only one who fell for the penny thing.

Ash: Oh….

We hear only the sound of Ash’s ego shattering.

Card:

Ash: What if I refuse to go on this date with you? What happened then?

Kate: Then I’m gonna stab you to death and play around in your blood.

Ash: Okay then…What time are we leaving?

Title card: First Date

Shot of Ash in the bathroom on his phone.  He’s calling the police.

999: 999 what’s your emergency?

Ash: I’ve been forced to go on a date! She-

999: Sir everyone has had bad dates before just give her a chance.

Ash: No I- Hello?

He throws the phone on the floor in frustration

End

Planning:

My trailer doesn’t require many locations or actors so this is convenient. It’s my usual tactic so that I can be sure that I can take my time without having to jump locations or grab more people. Knowing this I’ll use an alleyway located close by to the college for the first shot. This has always been the intended location so nothing has changed. The male bathroom could be a little awkward to film in but it’s only a small part so I imagine we could pull it off quickly. The only real difficulty could be the bedroom which I’ve decided to change to a living room so I could use the studio. This will make things easier for me because I won’t have to leave the college and reshoots will be easy. Most of the props will be easy to acquire as I already own most of them though I don’t really want to waste all my duct tape.

For actors and actresses I only need a couple. I’ll play the main character because I don’t think anyone else would let me hit them on the back of the head with a bat or tie them up with duct tape. Besides the female main, which I’ve had a friend agree too, I’ll have to get someone to voice the 999 operator. It’ll likely just be a friend who would do it for a joke or I’d do it myself.

The only filming equipment needed will be a camera and a tripod.
