Task 3

It took a lot longer than usual before I came up with an idea. Detective stories aren't really my thing and I've only really used photoshop for various school and college projects. I finally had an idea on what to do when I remembered the final task before the half term. Erasing a certain part of an image and mapping over it to make it seem like nothing was there. I was generally good at it and I tried to think about how I could use that in the project when I remembered the movie “The Invisible Man”. As lame as it was he became my villain.

The idea was that the detective got into the pursuit of the invisible villain as he slowly became more invisible, before the detective used a cheap trick to capture him. I intend to do this using either the previously mentioned mapping technique or taking two pictures of the same area and then erasing the necessary areas on the top layer. I’d used this technique previously for a few youtube videos that I never uploaded. I had to erase the backgrounds on certain images and move the needed parts onto background. The actual tone of this project reminds of the video. Its likely that I subconsciously remembered the video as the main character in both projects act alike, both have a job that is supposed to make them intelligence yet they don't seem to be so and both have partners that don't really like them though in this case it's not as obvious.

Jonah Felker

The Detective is a master of deduction. He's extremely good at his job but not as good as he thinks he is. With these kinds of skills an ego is inevitable. He likes to think that his combination of casual clothes and smart clothes looks stylish but in actual fact it does not.

Parker

The Villain. A petty and bitter man. He murdered the victim over something trivial and believes he can get away with it easily. He can't. He also has the power to turn invisible due to an accident at a factory. He also has a liking for stupid hats. He murdered the person by throwing them

Partner

Just a typical partner character. Constantly in surprise at the detectives skills and really only kept around because Jonah Felker likes to hear people praise him. He absolutely Despises Jonah’s jokes.

Plan

Idea

My idea is to have it set out like a TV show. It will start off with a “Previously on” segment, showing what happened in the previous (non-existent) episode.  It'll show the detective identifying the villain (I'm calling him Mr Parker) and also revealing he has the ability to turn invisible. This is how he committed the murder. He turns partly invisible and begins to flee. The detective and his partner give chase until Parker starts dropping articles of clothing and is eventually almost fully invisible. He forgets to remove his hat allowing the detective and his partner to keep pursuit. We also see his footprints on the ground. The detective stops his partner and tells him to act like he's given up. “Parker is petty and he'll want to gloat”. Parker immediately walks back and is punched unconscious by the detective. It finishes with a one liner.

Filming

My plan will be to get the filming done in a single day.  The filming will not take long as it's the editing that will take time.  Parker will have to be edited out as he turns invisible and as the chase continues. His footprints will also have to be edited in.

Equipment and cast

For equipment all that is needed is a camera, a tripod, a hat and the detective's clothes. The hat will come from the person I intend to cast as Parker; Carl. The detective’s clothes will provided by myself. He's described as being stylish, but I'm going to take that as the character thinking he's stylish. So I'm going to choose something that looks like an attempted mix of casual clothing and smart clothing.

Script

Narrator: Previously on -Show Name- “Jonah Felker” and  his partner concluded that the killers was Mr Parker, the egotistical banker and accused him in front of the other suspects. Jonah also figured out that Mr Parker also had the ability to turn invisible. Mr Parker used his ability and the chase began.

Show the events in various pictures.

CUT TO:

INT – Corridor – Day

Mr Parker comes around a corner only the parts covered in clothing visible. Jonah and “PARTNER” are in pursuit.

CUT TO:

Black screen with the words: Jonah: Get back here Parker! You're finished!

CUT TO:

Parker disappearing around a corner Jonah and PARTNER quickly following. We got a shot of Jonah and PARTNER as they come around the corner and see Parker's clothing littering the corridor (Except his hat). Jonah turns to his partner.

CUT TO:

Black screen: Jonah: Act like you've given up. Parker is a petty man. He'll surely come back to gloat!

The two begin to turn away. We see a shot of foot prints appearing on the ground as Parker begins to return. As he gets close to Jonah, the detective turns around and punches him dead in the face.

CUT TO:

Black screen: Jonah: Seems your plan was quite...see through, Parker.
